They are at it again, this time using truth as a bad thing. There is a video circulating showing statements and actions of our president which show him as being in league with the Moslem nations. In the video he praises the past glory of these nations. I am sure it was done in an effort to educate us as to their contributions to knowledge and civilization in general. They did indeed contribute to our society with the introduction of the Arabic numbers which we all use today including things as basic as the concept of zero. (Western people didn’t have the number 0 because it was “nothing”.) They gave us algebra, the basis for advanced mathematics. During the dark ages they saved the works of the Greek and Roman hilosophers and the great writings of the past as well as medical knowledge which would have been lost to us during the Dark Ages. They are duly recognized as one of the world’s great religions and their members do indeed comprise a significant number of US citizens. (We say that there are more Polish people in Chicago than in Warsaw Poland. That is not a bad thing, just a fact.) We may not agree with the Moslem religious beliefs but that has nothing to do with the fact that they are here. And when has it become bad to offer respect to anyone, especialy one with whom you are negotiating? It is, at the least, common sense. So I contend the the rabble rousers are using our prejudices against us. We see and hear what we want to see and hear and even when items of truth are presented they can be urned into a negative view. Sometimes the truth lies to us when presented in a negative way.
