The first reading for this coming weekend (Nov 7, 2010) deals with where we put our values … things of this world or in God and Heaven. What is realy important and do we have the courage of our convictions. The Gospel deals with the same question … Is there a heaven and do we believe in it and it’s importance to us. It is easy to get sidetracked into thinking it is about multiple marriages and how that is handled in the next life. That simply is not important when we consider that in eternal life there is no need for procreation and therefore no purpose in marriage. We like to think that we will be reunited with loved ones but in fact all who are there with God will be loved by God and each other. My theory is that unless we are able to love our fellow humans, we will not gain heaven so we better start practicing right now.
